Job Description
LSA is seeking to hire a Senior Greenhouse Gas/Climate Change Specialist. Climate action planning experience and climate change analysis experience is required. Candidates should be able to demonstrate excellent writing, presentation, interpersonal, and time management skills, in addition to an active interest in climate change issues and environmental review.
The successful candidate will manage and prepare climate action planning and climate adaptation work including GHG inventories, assist in leading and mentoring staff working on climate action plans and related projects, provide direction to junior staff related to the calculation and analysis of greenhouse gas emissions, and meet with clients to review needs and develop strategies for fulfilling those needs. The successful candidate may be located at any of LSA’s nine offices. Flexible workplace schedules may be arranged and allow for potential hybrid in-office/remote opportunities, subject to supervisor discretion.
Special Skills
Candidates should know climate action plans and their relationships to General Plans, CEQA, and the development review process. Candidates should also have knowledge of sustainable transportation planning and transportation climate adaptation analysis methodologies. Knowledge of specific grants that target climate action planning and sustainability and the ability to lead stakeholder meetings and guide groups in constructive discussions concerning projects is also desired. The successful candidate will have 5 or more years of experience working with local government or consulting with a focus on climate action planning and/or sustainability projects. Education and Experience
A B.S./B.A. or M.S. in Planning, Environmental Science, or similar disciplines is preferred. The ideal candidate experience is in climate action and sustainability planning. General planning experience will be accepted as long as a portion of the experience included a Climate Action Plan (CAP), or sustainability planning. Climate action planning experience and climate change analysis experience is required.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $71,000 to $154,000 per year. The compensation offer will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience.
