Job Title: Senior Lighting Artist UE 5.5 – Realtime // 3MONTH CONTRACT

Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Lighting Artist with expertise in Unreal Engine 5.5 , focusing on real-time lighting for a MMORPG at Avalon . The ideal candidate must have deep experience with Ultra Dynamic Sky , Volumetric Fog , and achieving high-performance lighting without Lumen, Megalights, or Raytracing . Your portfolio should showcase real-time lighting setups in Unreal Engine, emphasizing performance-efficient techniques for expansive worlds.

Key Responsibilities:

Lighting Implementation & Optimization

• Design and implement real-time dynamic lighting solutions tailored for an MMORPG open-world game using Unreal Engine 5.5 .
• Utilize Ultra Dynamic Sky to create time-of-day cycles, ensuring seamless transitions between day and night.
• Implement Volumetric Fog settings to enhance atmospheric depth without incurring excessive GPU/CPU overhead.
• Maintain high performance by working within strict GPU and CPU budgets
• Optimize lighting performance

Technical Setup & Pipeline Integration

• Establish lighting workflows compatible with a large, seamless open world and integrate them into the Unreal Engine pipeline.
• Work closely with environment artists and level designers to ensure consistent and immersive world lighting.
• Develop custom lighting blueprints and materials to facilitate the dynamic lighting

Performance Testing & Debugging

• Ensure the lighting pipeline is fully optimized for low and high-end PCs
• Monitor lighting contributions to shader complexity, draw calls, and memory usage while maintaining high visual fidelity.
• Debug and optimize lighting artifacts such as light leaks, shadow pop-in, or flickering issues.

Collaboration & Documentation

• Work closely with tech artists, VFX artists, and gameplay designers to ensure lighting aligns with artistic and narrative goals.
• Maintain detailed documentation of lighting techniques, best practices, and performance benchmarks .

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in game lighting art , with a focus on real-time lighting .
• Expertise in Unreal Engine 5.5 , specifically in Ultra Dynamic Sky, Volumetric Fog, and non-Lumen-based lighting solutions .
• Strong understanding of performance constraints in MMORPG open-world development .
• Experience with Unreal’s lighting tools
• Deep knowledge of UE5 rendering settings and performance profiling tools .
• Familiarity with dynamic lighting techniques without the use of Lumen, Raytracing, or Megalights .
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot lighting-related issues.
• A portfolio showcasing real-time lighting work in Unreal Engine (preferably large-scale environments).
