Meridian Health Services is currently seeking a full time Prior Authorization Specialist for our primary care Program located in Delaware County, Indiana. This is a great opportunity to make an impact in the lives of others.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor the inpatient clinical documentation so that it accurately demonstrates the intensity of service and level of care provided for the patient.
• Review all inpatient admissions after the first 24 hours to ensure comprehensive documentation outlining the reason for admission
• All patients will be reviewed at least every 3 days to ensure continued need for stay is accurately documented
• Review medical records, including treatment plans for accuracy and compliance
• Clarify all documentation for accuracy of severity of illness
• Provide topics of education regarding clinical documentation for the multidisciplinary team to clinical supervisors and HIM Educators
• Periodic monitoring of procedure codes for compliance
• Obtaining Prior Authorization for outpatient, inpatient and residential behavior health and substance abuse services
• Reviewing clinical documentation to obtain outpatient behavior health/MRO authorizations
• Running reports
• Maintain a working knowledge of Meridian Health Services policies and procedures

We are seeking candidates with the following qualities:

• High School Graduate and previous experience in a healthcare setting.
• Associate's degree, in related field, and two years of coding, auditing or clinical experience preferred
