Job Overview:
This position will work at the Main Lab (Corporate Lab) for Valley Medical and Wellness, located in Burnsville, MN. The Lab Technologist II is responsible for overseeing and maintaining the toxicology and molecular workflow to support and maintain timely and accurate testing.
Primary Responsibility:
- Perform machine maintenances on LCMS, Architect, and GeXP.
- Process a batch of evening samples through the toxicology and molecular workflow including loading and queueing of the instruments.
General Duties as needed:
- Perform qualitative and quantitative LCMS data analysis and PCR/RT-PCR data analysis.
- Process patient results through LabLynx (LIS).
- Perform and maintain assay quality control for all LC/MS/MS and PCR/RT-PCR analyses and data.
- Create and submit monthly reports to Supervisors, Lab Manager, or Lab Director on QC reports and other department metrics.
- Document corrective and preventative action in all testing procedures.
- Utilize knowledge, understanding, and proficiency in LC/MS/MS and PCR/RT-PCR methods to perform root cause analysis and instrument troubleshooting.
- Perform CAP proficiencies as a part of standard patient workflow.
- Create test kits (assembly of kits/supplies for specimen collection and mailed to clients)
- Perform specimen receiving actions in the LIS and organize samples based upon testing workflows.
- Clean glassware and laboratory workspace.
- Manage Laboratory Inventory: conduct inventory, initiate orders, receive supplies, and rotate stock appropriately for cost effective use.
Preferred Skills and Knowledge:
- Recent (within the last 2 years) experience performing fundamental LC/MS operations, PCR/RT-PCR and Molecular Diagnostics testing.
- Demonstrate knowledge, understanding and proficiency in the preparation, processing and analysis of biological samples using LCMS testing, PCR/RT-PCR testing, toxicology and DNA/RNA extraction methods.
- Demonstrate knowledge, understanding and proficiency in LCMS and PCR/RT-PCR assay and instrumentation troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of CLIA regulatory practices or other lab accreditation programs.
- Knowledge of laboratory safety and infection control procedures and practices including standard precautions and hazardous chemical handling.
- Ability to maintain effective reporting procedures and control workflow.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and clients.
Required Education, Experience and Credentials:
- Bachelor's Degree from four-year college or university in chemical, biological, clinical laboratory science or medical technology, or equivalent education and experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially with Word and Excel.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time.
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment to maintain test quality and efficiency.
- Ability to perform work with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Additional Position Details: (hours, locations, commute)
- Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 am to 6:30 pm flexibility is required based on testing volumes and may vary based upon business needs and growth of services.
- Job location is the Corporate Lab located in Burnsville, MN
- There is no commuting requirement for the position as a normal part of work responsibilities.
