Position Function: The instructional designer will facilitate course development through its Center for Teaching and Learning, the Center for Distance Education and the College of Professional Studies.
Salary Grade : 15

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Work with faculty/departments to develop and redesign courses for online instructional offerings.
2. Extensive knowledge of learning management systems, particularly Canvas.
3. Integrate emerging educational technologies into the campus courses and programs.
4. Consult with faculty via phone, email, chat, conferencing, and in person on course design and the learning management system.
5. Utilize quality design principles and appropriate technologies to facilitate distance instruction.
6. Apply instructional design principles to facilitate active and quality instruction.
7. Demonstrate expertise in emergent technology, active learning, and collaborative tools.
8. Devise modes of assessment, such as tests or quizzes, to measure the effectiveness of the course
9. Assess new standards and trends in online education and formulate strategies and plans for future enhancements.
10. Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games etc.)
11. Stay up-to-date on quality standards rubric in order to teach and implement the current standards.
12. Design and teach instructors on topics relevant to online instruction.
13. Develop online course templates for departments/programs.
14. Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications: Master's Degree in Instructional Design or related field
Two years in online instructions
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in online instructional design.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
The ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Experience with quality standards rubric
Experience with online instructional tools, such as Studio, WebEx, Microsoft Teams, and proctoring systems.
Previous teaching experience
Working Conditions and Physical Effort •This position requires the ability to manipulate a variety of office equipment, including occasional lifting of up to 30 pounds.
•Nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility.
•Routine deadlines; usually sufficient lead-time; variance in work volume seasonal and predictable; priorities can be anticipated; some interruptions are present; involves occasional exposure to demands and pressures from persons other than immediate supervisor.
•Job frequently requires sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, and handling objects with hands.
•Job occasionally requires standing, walking, stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling Vision requirements: Ability to see information in print and/or electronically.
